Widow Home Repair Day

Join us for a day of home repairs and maintenance for widows in the Dallas area who can't afford professional help.

Helping Hands Ministry organizes quarterly home repair days for widows and elderly homeowners in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who can't afford or physically manage home maintenance. Our next event is coming up and we need skilled and unskilled volunteers.

What You'll Do

Volunteers are assigned to teams that visit homes throughout the day. Tasks range from simple yard work and cleaning to plumbing fixes, painting, minor electrical work, and accessibility modifications like installing grab bars.

Upcoming Event

Saturday, April 12th, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Meet at Cornerstone Church for breakfast, team assignments, and prayer before heading out to homes. Lunch is provided on-site.

What to Bring

  • Work clothes and sturdy shoes
  • Personal tools if you have them (we provide what's needed)
  • Sunscreen and water bottle
  • A servant's heart

Skills Needed

We need all skill levels! Skilled tradespeople (plumbers, electricians, carpenters) are especially valuable, but there's plenty of work for anyone willing to paint, clean, rake, or simply keep a widow company while others work on her home.

Why This Matters

A leaky faucet or broken step might seem minor, but for a widow on a fixed income, these problems compound until her home becomes unsafe. One day of volunteer labor can make the difference between a house that's falling apart and a home that's safe and dignified.
